Objectiu de la convocatòria
The ERA4Health Partnership aims to strengthen coordination among European funding organisations to promote transnational research addressing public health needs. Within this framework, the Prevent‑OO 2026 Joint Transnational Call seeks to support multidisciplinary research projects focused on understanding and preventing overweight and obesity, with the goal of reducing its burden in Europe through targeted preventive and therapeutic strategies.
|
Característiques principals
Project proposals must focus on one of two topics, and address at least one of its specified subtopics:
Understanding of the causes for obesity, overweight and its complications by using a mechanistic approach: Exploration of the biological and genetic mechanisms underlying overweight and obesity, including relevant environmental or lifestyle factors, and/or their contribution to clinical complications or therapeutic outcomes.
Prevention and public health strategies for critical transitional periods of life: Focusing on neglected determinants of overweight and obesity during critical life transitions, and/or developing implementable preventive tools or strategies — taking into consideration physiological, behavioral, and socioeconomic factors — and evaluating their potential economic impact to inform policy and guide public health interventions.

Requisits
Joint research proposals can be submitted by applicants from academia, the clinical/public health sector, enterprises, or operational stakeholders, with partner eligibility subject to national/regional regulations.
Projects must be transnational and include three to five eligible partners from at least three different participating countries, with at least two from different EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries.
The number of countries may increase to 6 or 7 if one or two partners from Slovakia, Estonia, or Taiwan join the consortium.
A consortium can include a maximum of two partners requesting funding from the same country, and up to two collaborators.
Proposals must demonstrate the added value of transnational collaboration and address relevant social, ethical, political, environmental, or cultural aspects of the research.
Project partners should be complementary, and the research must be novel, ambitious, and innovative with high potential impact for end-users, patients, or citizens.
Each partner is funded by its national or regional funding agency, following its own eligibility and financial rules. Investigators from HMRIB must apply for funding to the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and can only participate in one project proposal per call.
PIs must hold a PhD, may participate in only one project proposal per call, and those affiliated with an IIS can apply through their IIS.
PIs involved in an ongoing International Collaboration (PCIN) project of the same initiative ending after 31 December 2026 are not eligible unless they serve as coordinator in either the new or ongoing project.
A pre-eligibility form is mandatory: PIs must send their CVA-ISCIII form by email before the pre-proposal submission deadline to [email protected].
Spanish research groups conducting a clinical trial are strongly encouraged to include a representative from their SCReN or ECRIN-ERIC node in the team.
Full proposal applicants selected requesting funding from ISCIII must submit a national application.
