This fellowship is designed to provide practising oncologists with additional experience in palliative care by spending an intensive period of observation at one of the ESMO Designated Centres. Applicants may apply to one of their choice. Application Timeline and Process:
The fellowship opens for an initial 8-week period during which candidates may apply to one of the ESMO Designated Centres (a maximum of two centre applications is recommended).
After this period, centres will review the requests and inform candidates by 12 January 2026 whether they are willing to host them.
If a centre agrees in principle, the candidate and host mentor must prepare a provisional schedule, and the host must provide a supporting letter.
These documents must be submitted by the candidate as part of the ESMO fellowship application.

Requisits
Applicants must be qualified practising oncologists (not in training) and must show in their application how they will apply the palliative care knowledge acquired through the fellowship to their daily oncological practice and how this is not available within their home institute.
Applicants must be ESMO members at the time of application.
Applicants must be proficient in English and/or the host institute’s language.

Application must include:
Completed online application form.
Digital photograph.
Recommendation letter from your department head at your home institute.
Acceptance letter from the person responsible for you while completing your fellowship at the host Designated Centre.
Weekly programme for palliative care observation fellowships (arranged by yourself with the host Designated Centre).
Motivation statement of your fellowship goals and how the acquired techniques will be used in the home institute/country.
