Objectiu de la convocatòria
The Dementia Frontiers Fund aims to support multidisciplinary research projects addressing urgent and complex questions about dementia — from better predicting disease progression to understanding brain changes and resilience in high-risk populations — with the goal of enabling paradigm‑shifting breakthroughs.

  • Can we better predict when dementia symptoms will begin or how quickly they’ll progress?
  • How do the many brain changes involved in dementia interact and which matters most?
  • Why do some people live to an old age without ever developing symptoms, despite having known risk factors for dementia?

    Researchers intending to apply should email [email protected] to register their intention to submit an EOI no later than Wednesday 17 December 2025. The Alzheimer’s Research UK team will provide a short eligibility questionnaire covering the criteria set out in the applicant guidelines. Please note that the email inbox will not be monitored between 24 December 2025 and 4 January 2026.
    Subject to satisfactory completion of the eligibility questionnaire, the Alzheimer’s Research UK team will provide the EOI form and any other relevant documents. Completed EOIs must be submitted via the dedicated SharePoint folder by 12:00 PM GMT on the deadline date.
    Requisits
  • Applications are welcomed from researchers worldwide.
  • Projects must be transnational, involving innovative approaches and interdisciplinary expertise. International collaborations are strongly encouraged.
  • A Lead Applicant must be designated. Applications cannot be led by commercial entities.
  • The Lead Applicant does not need to be based in a UK academic/research institution, but must be affiliated with an appropriately accredited or registered research institution in their country.
  • The Lead Applicant is expected to hold a contract (fixed-term or tenure) covering the proposed duration of the grant. If not, a co-applicant with such an appointment must be included.
  • Dotació
    Funding call will follow a staged process:
  • Expression of Interest: up to £50,000 per team
  • Full Application: around £1.5 million per team
  • Follow-on Funding: additional major award
  • Durada
    2 years with potential follow-on funding for an additional 3 years.
