Objectiu de la convocatòria
The Fellows-to-Faculty Award aims to support early-career scientists in their transition to independent, tenure-track faculty positions, with a focus on research in autism and neuroscience.
Característiques principals
For the 2026 cycle, applicants may submit an application to either or both of the following scientific areas:
  • Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI)
  • Simons Collaboration on Plasticity and the Aging Brain (SCPAB)
    If submitting to both areas, applicants must submit separate applications, tailored to the respective scientific areas.

    Additionaly, there are two optional specialized tracks:
  • Computational Scientist Track: for postdocs with strong computational/theoretical expertise.
  • Clinical Scientist Track: for applicants with clinical doctoral degrees pursuing independent research in basic science.
    All applicants are considered for the general track, with the option to select one or both specialized tracks.

    Requisits
  • Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent doctoral degree.
  • Applicants must be in a non-independent, mentored research training position and not have accepted a tenure-track or equivalent faculty position prior to award notification.
  • Applicants may not simultaneously hold other career development awards that facilitate a transition to an independent research career.
  • There are no citizenship requirements.

  • Faculty Research Award:
    $200,000 per year as a supplement to the institution’s start-up package. Funds may be used for reasonable research-related expenses. The grant must be activated within 12 months of starting the faculty position.
  • Postdoctoral Award:
    Activation is optional, but if accepted, the award starts on September 1, 2026 and ends upon leaving the postdoc position or August 31, 2028, whichever comes first. Annual funding includes:
    $85,000 stipend
    $10,000 career development allowance
    $15,000 health insurance and benefits allowance
    • Durada
    Each fellow is provided up to five years of financial support, split into a faculty research award over three years, and an optional, preceding postdoctoral award for a maximum of two years.
