This program supports innovative research that addresses an unmet medical need or close scientific knowledge gaps in the field of HIV, focused on clinical research, implementation science, and basic science (related to HIV cure), in Australia, Canada and Europe.

Management of complications, comorbidities and/or co-infections e.g. HIV and aging

Requisits
Applicants must hold an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent and a position at a recognised research institution in Europe, Australia, or Canada, with an appointment that covers the full duration of the award.
- For candidates who are clinicians, they should be no more than 7 years post PhD or 12 years post-graduation from medical school.
- For candidates who are not clinical doctors, they should be no more than 7 years post PhD.
Applicants must have a research mentor with extensive experience in their field (co-mentorship is accepted).
Applicants must have institutional support confirming that they can devote 50% of their professional time to research for 2-year award period (as opposed to administrative, patient care, or teaching duties).
Aplicants must demonstrate a strong career interest in HIV research.
The research must be completed within the 2-year award period, providing evidence for future research projects.
The award cannot overlap with other current or pending funding. It can be used to support a larger research project, as long as it supports a specific component of it.

Letter of support from the department chair or division chief that documents the institution is willing and has the ability to commit the resources necessary for the applicant to complete the proposed research, including sufficient protected time
