Objectiu de la convocatòria
This short-term international fellowship programme enables cancer professionals to strengthen their knowledge and skills in cancer control through learning visits of up to two months.
Característiques principals
Applications should focus on public health and the training of health professionals in cost-effective, evidence-based cancer control strategies adapted to their local context, with an emphasis on reducing inequities in cancer care and outcomes. They may cover the full cancer control continuum, from prevention and early detection to diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship, as well as strengthening health systems, including national cancer programmes and registries.

Priority is given to projects aligned with key UICC themes such as access to care, health systems strengthening, women's and lung cancers, and people-centred care, with a special focus in 2026 on cervical cancer, particularly HPV vaccination introduction and scale-up.

Eligible activities include clinical observerships, implementation projects, and applied clinical cancer research that translates existing knowledge into improved patient outcomes. Basic or translational research is not supported.

The following topics are within the scope of the 2026 call for applications:
  • Cancer prevention and early detection strategies, including vaccination and cancer screening
  • Cancer risk factors, including behavioural, occupational, environmental, medical and inherited genetic factors
  • Epidemiology and data analysis, or strengthening of cancer registry data
  • Cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment (including observerships in cancer surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and medical oncology)
  • Patient support, survivorship, and palliative care
  • Analysis of the economics of cancer, including universal health coverage (UHC)-related topics
  • Development of national cancer control plans and programmes
