The Fondation Jérôme Lejeune launches two annual calls to support fundamental, translational, and clinical research projects that advance understanding and explore new therapeutic approaches for Down syndrome and other genetic disorders associated with intellectual disability. The Spring call focuses solely on intellectual disabilities of genetic origin, excluding Trisomy 21, such as Fragile X, Cri du chat, Rett, Williams-Beuren, Prader-Willi, Angelman, and Smith-Magenis syndromes, among others. The Autumn call is exclusively dedicated to research on Trisomy 21.

BRAIN & BEHAVIOR RESEARCH FOUNDATION
The YI Grant provides funding to enable promising investigators to either extend research fellowship training or begin careers as independent research faculty in psychiatric brain and behavior disorder research. The goal is to help early-career researchers establish themselves in neuroscience and psychiatry and generate pilot data to support applications for larger federal and university grants.

The call for applications is intended for the pursuit of a doctoral degree in all areas of knowledge. Applicants must meet the admission requirements for a doctoral programme, fulfil the mobility criteria detailed in section 4.5, and not have previously begun any doctoral studies.
Fellows should start at the host institutions between September and November 2026. Nevertheless, in duly justified cases, the ”la Caixa” Foundation may allow this to be delayed until January 31 2027.
